Wedding Dupion Silk Sarees

You have to attend a traditional Indian Wedding in few weeks and you feel that wearing an Indian Silk Saree for the Wedding would be best. While you are tempted with all the glistening Silk Sarees that you come across, you are on a tight budget and just can’t afford to burn a hole in your wallet by buying an expensive Silk Saree. Well, that necessarily does not mean that you drop the idea of getting yourself a Silk Saree. It means that you need to think about getting yourself a Dupion Silk Saree.

Weddings are, undoubtedly, the time to look your gorgeous best. A rather new inclusion in the exhaustive list of Indian Silk Sarees is the Dupion Silk Saree. While we all have grown up admiring the radiance of Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees, Banarsi Silk Sarees, Jamdani Silk Sarees, Paithani Silk Sarees, Mysore Silk Sarees, etc, Dupion Silk Sarees can relatively be considered as fledgling in the history of Indian Silk Sarees. But the pace at which it’s on its way to becoming popular and much in demand is indeed quite remarkable.

Wedding Dupion Silk Sarees

Dupion Silk is also known as Dupioni Silk or Douppioni Silk. While traditional Silks are woven with silk fibers of a single color, Dupion Silks are woven using silk fibers of two different colors which create a beautiful dual shaded effect every time the fabric is moved or swayed. As other Silk fabrics or Silk Sarees reveal a smooth and soft texture, Dupion Silk possesses a sort of rough and crisp texture. Initially, Dupion Silk was mainly used for jackets, draperies and upholstery but slowly it became a popular fabric for Indian Sherwanis mainly because of its stiff and crisp texture, and now it has made its mark in the world of Sarees as well. The softer varieties of Dupion Silk make great Wedding Silk Sarees due to its luster, dual shaded effect and crisp texture. The Wedding Dupion Silk Saree collection at Homeindia includes vibrant Sarees enhanced with beautiful brocade or embellished borders along with embroidered motifs throughout the Saree.

Dupion Silk Sarees Under USD $100

One of the key reasons behind the popularity of Wedding Dupion Silk Sarees is its affordability. It’s not particularly an expensive variety of silk and hence Dupion Silk Sarees are generally low priced compared to other Wedding Silk Sarees. This, however, does not mean that the quality of Dupion Silk Sarees is inferior. The main point of difference lies mainly in the texture i.e., Dupion Silk Sarees are not as ‘fine’ or soft as few other varieties of silks. You’d be amazed at the radiance and outstanding quality of Dupion Silk Sarees just under USD $100 available online at Homeindia.

In fact, the thick and crisp Wedding Dupion Silk Sarees prove to be a better option than other Silk Sarees for women having tall and lean frames. It holds pleats quite well and doesn’t tend to slip like few varieties of Silk Sarees. Due to the thickness of the fabric, the luster of Dupion Silk Sarees seems further enhanced or highlighted.

For the next wedding you attend, be experimental and give Wedding Dupion Silk Sarees a try. A beautiful collection of Wedding Dupion Silk Sarees at Homeindia would further tempt you to buy one for yourself.

Sania-Shoaib

After a round of wedding functions and celebrations in India, it was Pakistan’s turn to witness Sania Mirza-Shoaib Malik wedding revelry. But much to the couple’s and family’s disappointment, the celebrations turned sour due to mismanagement; the prime cause being unruly guests bothering and pestering the couple to pose for pictures with them at both the reception ceremonies held in Sialkot and Lahore.

Sialkot Reception

Sialkot Reception

Unruly guests might have marred the wedding celebrations but Sania’s outfits which were designed for her reception parties in Pakistan were truly stunning! Designer duo Shantanu-Nikhil did an amazing job in making Sania look the perfect bride. Of all her wedding functions, it was at the reception in Sialkot that Sania, undoubtedly, looked her best. Clad in a dull cream Lehenga with long choli which was dazzled with sequins and flaunted eye-catching red velvet work in decorative pattern, Sania simply looked stunning in this Shantanu and Nikhil Lehenga Choli. She paired it with a gorgeous necklace set and, of course, her signature maang teeka. Her charming little box clutch studded with red stones blended well with her outfit. Shoaib flaunted a white Sherwani with a bold embellished paisley motif at the front panel.

At the walima in Lahore, the couple opted for an elegant look. Shoaib looked handsome in a classy Western formal Suit. Sania was spotted in Shantanu and Nikhil Long Choli Lehenga in light bluish grey featuring self woven pattern. While the shade of the outfit was really elegant, the silhouette wasn’t quite flattering. But thanks to her hairdo and elegant stone-studded necklace set, she managed to pull it off with some success.

A royal wedding

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Weddings mean opulence and what better way to make it magnificent than to give it a regal touch….and you don’t have to be royalty for that!!

Jodhaa Akbar

Jodhaa Akbar

The mention of the word ‘royal’ or ‘royalty’ immediately conjures up images of the stunningly beautiful Aishwarya Rai adorned in breathtakingly gorgeous outfits and jewellery beside a majestic Hritik Roshan in his ornate Sherwanis. Such is the impact of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar that, of late, we associate everything regal with this epic movie.

Inspired by its gorgeous outfits, we have included few traditionally styled opulent Lehenga Cholis, Sherwanis along with magnificent necklace sets in our wedding collection.

Be it bridal wear or an ensemble to attend a wedding, we suggest re-create the Jodhaa Akbar look, i.e., if you can handle the opulence.

Traditional Lehenga Choli

Traditional Lehenga Choli

Select an ornately embellished Lehenga Choli in warm shades of orange, red, golden or rich tones of maroon and green, which flaunts exquisite embellishments. For the wedding, it would be better to not be tempted by the figure flattering contemporary mermaid cut or paneled Lehenga Cholis. Instead, opt for the ethnic flared ones to capture the authentic traditional look of Jodhaa Akbar.

Stylish Lehenga Choli

Stylish Lehenga Choli

Save the contemporary silhouettes such as mermaid cut and paneled Lehenga Cholis for reception. You can even consider a Lehenga style Sari.

Gorgeous Necklace Sets

Gorgeous Necklace Sets

Do not comprmise on jewellery. The more gorgeous it is the better. Kundan necklace sets with broad and wide necklaces, chandelier earrings and beautiful maang teekas would truly make you look regal. A small round red bindi on the forehead, and your ‘Jodhaa’ look is complete.

Traditional Sherwani

Traditional Sherwani

Now for the ‘Akbar’ look…  Rather than a regular Sherwani, opt for a three piece Sherwani in classic shades of  beige, cream, off white, pale golden, etc. The long embellished jacket in a three piece Sherwani makes all the difference. To add drama to your ensemble, you can try accessorizing it with long strings of pearls.

Well, you are all set to get married in royal style now.
