Rahul-Dimpy

Rahul-Dimpy

The Swayamvar finally ended with a marriage as Rahul Mahajan had claimed. And the choice was Dimpy Ganguly, model and aspiring actress from Kolkata, as Mrs. Mahajan.

Quite an interesting jodi, with 14 years of age difference and both possessing quite similar traits when it comes to habits, lifestyle including a ‘colorful past’. They might just be made for each other!

Will this marriage last? Only time will tell..

The outfits of the brides-to-be were always gorgeous but when ace designers were made to design outfits and dress up the three finalists, things got a li’l more glamorous. Neeta Lulla designed outfits for the vivacious Dimpy Ganguly (now Mrs. Mahajan), gorgeous Harpreet Chhabra’s outfits were designed by Ashley Rebello while the tall and elegant Nikunj Malik was quite excited to have Vikram Phadnis as her designer.

Mehndi

Mehndi

For the Mehndi ceremony, Nikunj looked beautiful in deep pink net and shimmer Lehenga Choli with full sleeves. Dimpy’s off white Lehenga Choli was stunning and it flaunted intricate cutwork pattern. Her necklace set featuring emeralds and pearls perfectly complemented her outfit. Harpreet looked quite pretty in light green mermaid cut Lehenga Choli accessorized with gorgeous earrings and maang teeka.

Sangeet

Sangeet

For the Sangeet night, Nikunj had donned golden beige and maroon Lehenga Choli with a kamarbandh. Dimpy looked the prettiest in multihued paneled mermaid cut Lehenga Choli while Harpreet’s light pink Lehenga with sleeveless Choli made her look lovely.

For the wedding night, the three brides-to-be were at their gorgeous best. Harpreet, being a Sardarni, opted for a gorgeous deep pink and red Patiala suit. Dimpy stuck to the traditional all red bridal saree draped in Bengali style. Nikunj chose a heavily embellished turquoise and burgundy Lehenga Choli as her bridal wear.

Dimpy Ganguly emerged as the winning dulhan and we hope they do live happily ever after.

Bollywood Bride: Katrina in Singh Is Kinng

Friday, March 5th, 2010

A complete laughter riot, Singh Is Kinng turned out to be a great success. A mindless comedy about a village simpleton who transforms a group of notorious gangsters.

Gorgeous Katrina Kaif plays the vivacious and chirpy Sonia who is seen prancing around in short Western outfits. But her bridal outfit in the movie is absolutely stunning. It surpasses quite a few other bridal outfits that filmy brides flaunt in other movies.

Rather than the predictable ‘all red’ bridal wear, the interesting mix of red and teal makes Katrina’s bridal outfit quite eye-catching and hard to forget. Gorgeous red flared lehenga is paired with teal choli and red dupatta which is draped perfectly. Golden embellishments in intricate pattern and buttis make the outfit gorgeous.  Beautiful necklace set with drop cut briolettes and bangles on both the hands make her look like a perfect bride.

If this look fascinates you, re-create it by choosing a Lehenga Choli with a similar color combination. Long cholis would also look great if you’re not quite interested in baring your midriff. The key to this look is the way Katrina’s dupatta is draped – on the head and over the left shoulder. Necklace sets featuring stones and beads in shades of red, green, deep pink, etc. would be perfect. Don’t restrict yourself when it comes to bangles. The more the better!!

You don’t have to be a celluloid goddess to carry off this look but it sure helps a lot if you’re blessed with good height.
